For four long years, much of Europe had been under a terrible shadow. Free nations had fallen, Jews cried out in the camps -- millions cried out for liberation. Europe was enslaved, and the world prayed for its rescue. Here in Normandy the rescue began. Here the Allies stood and fought against tyranny in a giant undertaking unparalleled in human history.

We stand on a lonely, windswept point on the northern shore of France. The air is soft, but forty years ago at this moment, the air was dense with smoke and the cries of men, and the air was filled with the crack of rifle fire and the roar of cannon. At dawn, on the morning of the 6th of June, 1944, 225 Rangers jumped off the British landing craft and ran to the bottom of these cliffs. Their mission was one of the most difficult and daring of the invasion: to climb these sheer and desolate cliffs and take out the enemy guns. The Allies had been told that some of the mightiest of these guns were here, and they would be trained on the beaches to stop the Allied advance.

The Rangers looked up and saw the enemy soldiers -- at the edge of the cliffs shooting down at them with machine guns and throwing grenades. And the American Rangers began to climb. They shot rope ladders over the face of these cliffs and began to pull themselves up. When one Ranger fell, another would take his place. When one rope was cut, a Ranger would grab another and begin his climb again. They climbed, shot back, and held their footing. Soon, one by one, the Rangers pulled themselves over the top, and in seizing the firm land at the top of these cliffs, they began to seize back the continent of Europe. Two hundred and twenty-five came here. After two days of fighting, only 90 could still bear arms.

Behind me is a memorial that symbolizes the Ranger daggers that were thrust into the top of these cliffs. And before me are the men who put them there.

These are the boys of Pointe de Hoc. These are the men who took the cliffs. These are the champions who helped free a continent. These are the heroes who helped end a war.

Gentlemen, I look at you and I think of the words of Stephen Spender's poem. You are men who in your "lives fought for life...and left the vivid air signed with your honor…."

Forty summers have passed since the battle that you fought here. You were young the day you took these cliffs; some of you were hardly more than boys, with the deepest joys of life before you. Yet you risked everything here. Why? Why did you do it? What impelled you to put aside the instinct for self-preservation and risk your lives to take these cliffs? What inspired all the men of the armies that met here? We look at you, and somehow we know the answer. It was faith, and belief; it was loyalty and love.

The men of Normandy had faith that what they were doing was right, faith that they fought for all humanity, faith that a just God would grant them mercy on this beachhead or on the next. It was the deep knowledge -- and pray God we have not lost it -- that there is a profound moral difference between the use of force for liberation and the use of force for conquest. You were here to liberate, not to conquer, and so you and those others did not doubt your cause. And you were right not to doubt.

You all knew that some things are worth dying for. One's country is worth dying for, and democracy is worth dying for, because it's the most deeply honorable form of government ever devised by man. All of you loved liberty. All of you were willing to fight tyranny, and you knew the people of your countries were behind you.

---------------------------

Here is a link to a YouTube video of the speech - as always, please remember to rank, favorite, subscribe to the author's channel

With all my heart, as a free American citizen - THANK YOU - to ALL who have served my country in our armed forces

Words are not enough . . . .

Mind Your Own Business!!

You guys, this is the title of my ezine! Leave a comment and let me know what you think! -Karla-

===========================

Shout It From The Rooftops!

Wellll, that may not be the Best way for you to get the word out about your new business, but … hey … it just might work …

Here are some methods that we know WILL work, and Very Well!

Marketing By Walking Around

What’s easier? Starting up a conversation about your business, or answering a question? You may not feel comfortable starting up a sales pitch, but if someone asked you, “Hey, what’s that on your shirt?” now you can answer their question and schpiel out your elevator pitch (you do have one, right?) without missing a beat! Use these tools to help others bring the subject up:

Put your company logo, name, and website on

• Hats
• Shirts
• Attache Case
• Portfolio or Notebook
• Coffee Mug
• Gym Bag
• Car Window Stickers
• If your wallet has an outside window, put your business card in it
• Mix your business card in that little plastic thing where you keep your pictures or credit cards – people see you flipping through that all the time

(Elevator Pitch: Imagine you are in an elevator with someone, and you have just a moment to tell them about your business before they reach their floor. What would you tell them in those few seconds that would make them want to stay on the elevator with you to learn more?)

Leave Behinds

At PRISM Online Money, we provide you with customized flyers, business cards, and brochures. Post them on all of those bulletin boards you read while you wait for your coffee or ice cream or do your laundry. There are dozens of bulletin boards within a one-mile radius of your house! Check these places:

• Supermarkets
• Beauty Shops
• Coffee Shops
• Laundromats
• Pet Stores
• Specialty Supply Stores like Fabric Stores, Hobby Shops, etc.
• Internet Cafes
• Your Local EDD / Unemployment Office (hit coffee shops around here, too!)

Tried and True Advertising

Know why we still get postcards in the mail? BECAUSE THEY WORK! Here’s the secret of the postcard: Before people decide whether they will keep it or throw it out, They Have To Read It. Duh! Simple, eh? For those few seconds, you have that person’s undivided attention, and that, my friends, is what it’s all about! At Prism Online Money we give you customized postcards and mailing lists of potential entrepreneurs that are interested in what you are offering!

Know what else works still? Classified ads. Even in 2009, when we live life at the speed of the internet, you still see people sitting with their coffee and reading the classifieds. A well written classified ad will generate loads of traffic to your website! (Yes, Of Course we give them to you!)

Sold!

All good opportunities will have some product that you can give away for free as an incentive to people to check out your website. At PRISM, some of the ones that we love best are travel prizes! Who doesn’t love to travel??! We have weekend getaway certificates that we give to schools and clubs for them to use in their fundraisers and auctions, and whenever we have neighborhood meetings or coffeehouse chats we offer a free weekend getaway as a door prize, or we use some of our week-long vacation certificates as sales incentives (Join tonite and we will Give You a week at an all-inclusive resort in Jamaica!). This is a great way to get your business in front of all kinds of people!

These are just a few ways that you can get the word out about your business other than internet advertising. In other articles we talk about some of the online methods of advertising, both paid and free, that are available to you as well. Remember, the key to the whole thing is getting people curious about what you are offering, and you don’t have to be an internet wizard to do that!

Now get out there and sell, Sell, $ELL, people!

ABOUT THE AUTHOR:
Karla Oakley runs PRISM, where Profitable Residual Income Streams are Made EASY! Amen!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
'Let me explain the problem science has with  religion.' The atheist professor of philosophy pauses before his class and then asks one of his new students to stand.
'You're a Christian, aren't you son?'
'Yes sir,' the student says.
'So you believe in God?'
'Absolutely.'
'Is God good?'
'Sure! God's good.'
'Is God all-powerful? Can God do anything?'
'Yes'
'Are you good or evil?'
'The Bible says I'm evil.'
The professor grins knowingly. 'Aha! The Bible!' He considers for a moment. 'Here's one for you. Let's say there's a  sick person over here and you can cure him. You can do it. Would you help him?
Would you try?'
'Yes sir, I would.'
'So you're good...!'
'I wouldn't say that.'
'But why not say that? You'd help a sick and maimed person if you could. Most of us would if we could. But God doesn't.'
The student does not answer, so the professor continues.  'He doesn't, does he? My brother was a Christian who died of cancer, even though he prayed to Jesus to heal him. How is this Jesus good? Hmmm? Can you answer that one?'
The student remains silent.
'No, you can't, can you?' the professor says. He takes a sip of water from a glass on his desk to give the student time to relax.
'Let's start again, young fella. Is God good?'
'Er..yes,' the student says.
Professor: 'Is Satan good?'
The student doesn't hesitate on this one. 'No.'
'Then where does Satan come from?'
The student falters. 'From God'
'That's right.. God made Satan, didn't he? Tell me, son. Is there evil in this world?'
'Yes, sir.'
'Evil's everywhere, isn't it? And God did make everything, correct?'
'Yes'
'So who created evil?' The professor continued, 'If God created everything, then God created evil, since evil exists, and according to the principle that our works define who we are, then God is evil.'
Again, the student has no answer. 'Is there sickness?
Immorality? Hatred? Ugliness? All these terrible things, do they exist in this world?'
The student squirms on his feet. 'Yes.'
'So who created them?'
The student does not answer again, so the professor repeats his question. 'Who created them?' There is still no answer. Suddenly the lecturer breaks away to pace in front of the classroom. The class is mesmerized. 'Tell me,' he continues onto another student. 'Do you believe in Jesus Christ, son?'
The student's voice betrays him and cracks. 'Yes, professor, I do.'
The old man stops pacing. 'Science says you have five senses you use to identify and     observe the world around you. Have you ever seen Jesus?'
'No sir. I've never seen Him.'
'Then tell us if you've ever heard your Jesus?'
'No, sir, I have not.'
'Have you ever felt your Jesus, tasted your Jesus or smelt your Jesus? Have you ever had any sensory perception of Jesus Christ, or God for that matter?'
'No, sir, I'm afraid I haven't.'
'Yet you still believe in him?'
'Yes'
'According to the rules of empirical, testable, demonstrable protocol, science says your God doesn't exist. What do you say to that, son?'
'Nothing,' the student replies. 'I only have my faith.'
'Yes, faith,' the professor repeats. 'And that is the problem science has with God. There is no evidence, only faith.'
The student stands quietly for a moment, before asking a question of His own. 'Professor, is there such thing as heat?'
' yes.
'And is there such a thing as cold?'
'Yes, son, there's cold too.'
'No sir, there isn't.'
The professor turns to face the student, obviously interested.
The room suddenly becomes very quiet. The student begins to explain. 'You can have lots of heat, even more heat, super-heat, mega-heat, unlimited heat, white heat , a little heat or no heat, but we don't have anything called 'cold'. We can hit up to 458 degrees below zero, which is no heat, but we can't go any further after that. There is no such thing as cold; otherwise we would be able to go colder than the lowest –458 degrees.'
'Everybody or object is susceptible to study when it has or transmits energy, and heat is what makes a body or matter have or transmit energy. Absolute zero (-458 F) is the total absence of heat. You see, sir, cold is only a word we use to describe the absence of heat. We cannot measure cold. Heat we can measure in thermal units because heat is energy. Cold is not the opposite of heat, sir, just the absence of it.'
Silence across the room. A pen drops somewhere in the classroom, sounding like a hammer.
'What about darkness, professor. Is there such a thing as darkness?'
'Yes,' the professor replies without hesitation. 'What is night if it isn't darkness?'
'You're wrong again, sir. Darkness is not something; it is the absence of something. You can have low light, normal light, bright light, flashing light, but if you have no light constantly you have nothing and it's called darkness, isn't it? That's the meaning we use to define the word.'
'In reality, darkness isn't. If it were, you would be able to make darkness darker, wouldn't you?'
The professor begins to smile at the student in front of him.
This will be a good semester. 'So what point are you making, young man?'
'Yes, professor. My point is, your philosophical premise is flawed to start with, and so your conclusion must also be flawed.'
The professor's face cannot hide his surprise this time. 'Flawed? Can you explain how?'
'You are working on the premise of duality,' the student explains. 'You argue that there is life and then there's death; a good God and a bad God. You are viewing the concept of God as something finite, something  we can measure. Sir, science can't even explain a thought.'
'It uses electricity and magnetism, but has never seen, much less fully understood either one. To view death as the opposite of life is to be ignorant of the fact that death cannot exist as a substantive thing. Death is not the opposite of life, just the absence of it.'
'Now tell me, professor. Do you teach your students that they evolved from a monkey?'
'If you are referring to the natural evolutionary process, young man, yes, of course I do.'
'Have you ever observed evolution with your own eyes, sir?'
The professor begins to shake his head, still smiling, as he realizes where the argument is going. A very good semester, indeed.
'Since no one has ever observed the process of evolution at work and cannot even prove that this process is an on-going endeavor, are you not teaching your opinion, sir? Are you now not a scientist, but a preacher?'
The class is in uproar. The student remains silent until the commotion has subsided.
'To continue the point you were making earlier to the other student, let me give you an example of what I mean.'
The student looks around the room. ' Is there anyone in the class who has ever seen the professor's brain?' The class breaks out into laughter.
'Is there anyone here who has ever heard the professor's brain, felt the professor's brain, touched or smelt the professor's brain? No one appears to have done so. So, according to the established rules of empirical, stable, demonstrable protocol, science says that you have no brain, with all due respect, sir.'
'So if science says you have no brain, how can we trust your lectures, sir?'
Now the room is silent. The professor just stares at the student, his face unreadable.
Finally, after what seems an eternity, the old man answers.
'I guess you'll have to take them on faith.'
'Now, you accept that there is faith, and, in fact, faith exists with life,' the student continues. 'Now, sir, is there such a thing as evil?'
Now uncertain, the professor responds, 'Of course, there is. We see it everyday. It is in the daily example of man's inhumanity to man. It is in the multitude of crime and violence everywhere in the world. These manifestations are nothing else but evil.'
To this the student replied, 'Evil does not exist sir, or at least it does not exist unto itself. Evil is simply the absence of God. It is just like darkness and cold, a word that man has created to describe the absence of God. God did not create evil. Evil is the result of what happens when man does not have God's love present in his heart. It's like the cold that comes when there is no heat or the darkness that comes when there is no light.'
The professor sat down.
If you read this all the way through and had a smile on your face when you finished, mail to your friends and family with the title 'God vs Science'
PS: the student was Albert Einstein
How Many Days In This Month?
Thirty days hath September
April, June, and November
Twenty-eight and Feb is done
All the rest have thirty-one!
Marital Accord
OK this is what used to happen whenever my husband and I would plan to go out.
The Scene:  Saturday afternoon.  We're going out, and I want to leave at 6:00.
4:30
I start to get ready.  (Hey, I like to take my time - trust me, it shows...)
I start in on him.  "Michael, don't forget we're going out..."
"Honey, shouldn't you start getting ready?"
"Michael, we have reservations for 6:30...  We have to leave here at 6:00 or we'll be late..."
5:20
He can't take it anymore.
5:30
He's dressed.  (Men!!) Put it in an old jelly jar and keep it handy so you can :
Sprinkle it like cleanser to clean the sink (kitchen And bathroom - tub, too!)
Pour a little vinegar in your toilet, then sprinkle some baking soda - when it stops fizzing scrub as usual
Sprinkle a little to absorb grease in a pan instead of pouring the grease down the drain or in a can
Sprinkle some in the bottom of your kitchen garbage can.  It will absorb the smell and anything that leaks out of the bag, making it easier to clean out.
It takes the sour out of sponges.  Wet the sponge, sprinkle some soda on it and rub it around and let it set for a bit - rinse it off - voila!
It takes the gunk off the bottom of your pans - even if it has been there forever.  Something about the pH or something, I don't know, but - it works
Check back on this list - I will add to it often!
Housekeeping Tips
When making the bed, put on two diagonal corners of the bottom sheet first. I think part of it is that we as people have needs, and we look to our "people" to fulfill those needs, which I think is very natural.  However, sometimes the needs we have at that time cannot be fulfilled by those certain people, and that can cause things to get strained.
For example, personally I am not really very good with kids.  I never had any myself and was never around them day-to-day, so I tend to be a little ill-at-ease with them.  I'm not sure how to relate to them mentally, and they make a lot of noise and are always runnin' around and stuff - - not my scene     *LoL*
Now, if a friend of mine expected me to watch their kids, or sit down and spend time with their kids when I went to visit her, they would quickly become irritated and disappointed with me, and our relationship would probably become strained even if it was very solid on other fronts.
Part of that is that their expectations are unrealistic.  They want something of me that is not within me to give.  I have other talents, and will do lots and lots of other things for them, but I really am not the friend that they should come to if they need a babysitter.
Part of that could also be that they are trying to use one friend to fulfill multiple needs without thinking about what types of things that friend Can and Wants to give.
I bet if we looked at our strained relationships in this light, asking ourselves, "Really, what need am I looking to this person to fulfill for me, and is this person even capable, much less willing, to do that?" we might be surprised to find that really the solution to the tension could be something as simple as setting realistic expectations of that person, and making sure that our needs are taken care of by the person in our circle who is capable and willing to help us with that, or by learning to do it ourselves, or even by using that recognition of that need as an initiative to widen our social circle!
If someone is incapable, or unwilling, to do something for me, I don't think less of them or get mad at them because of it.  If it's something that I really, really need and that they are Capable of giving me but are Unwilling to give it, I definitely resent them for it no doubt, and that becomes a decision point in the relationship, but if they are really just not that kind of person or don't have it in them I try to just accept the fact and focus on the things that I do like about them.  I find this simple technique has brought me much peace of mind and taken away a lot of my stress, and I hope it does for you, too.
Try it - this will work . . .
My First Website - GK Fun Trips!
My First very own website that I made from  scratch!
www.GKFunTrips.com
yep . . . started with a blank white screen . . .
what do you think of it?
Jeepers, This Is Tough!
I've thought about blogging for some time now.  Everybody told me I should do it, for lots of reasons, and I think I'm finally ready to "blog".  I'm just getting into the whole "social networking" thing, plus I'm making a number of changes to my habits.  I'm dedicating myself to working Smarter not Harder and focusing on becoming more disciplined in my approach to my work.  Blogging will be good for me because I feel like I have a lot of things I want to write down and share, and because I want to have the discipline it will take to do this and do it well...
So I've been thinking about blogging lately, and have even queued up some things in my mind to blog.  However...  Now that I'm sitting here in front of this big blank white box ... I'm realizing, jeepers - this is tough!  *LoL*
It's all right - - it will come to me.  The more I do it, the easier it will get.  I've done the hard part, which is taking the first step!  I've gotten this one set up, and this is the first blogpost.  Even though it's filled with drivel I now have two accomplishments to stand on:  I have set it up, and I have posted.
More will come....
sheesh... this wasn't so tough after all!
